Women 20 (W20)
The Group of Twenty (G20) includes 19 leading economies of the world and the European Union, united to strengthen economic cooperation and combat the global financial crisis. It took some time for the Women 20 to appear as part of the organisation.
The G20 countries pledged to reduce the employment gender gap by 25 percent by 2025 at the Brisbane Summit in 2014. Experts noted that this would help increase global economic growth and reduce inequality and poverty.
This commitment laid the foundation for the creation of the Women 20, the G20's new social partner. In 2015, under the Turkish Presidency, the G20 agreed to create the W20 with the goal to achieve sustainable growth in all countries.
